How It Works
Contact
For an assessment for dyslexia (SpLD), please contact me via the form/email at the foot of this webpage.
Assessment
The appointment is for four hours. The assessment is carried out on a one-to-one basis. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/carer. The cost of the assessment is between £450-£500 (depending on location), and this can be paid via bank transfer on the day of the assessment.
Results
A short feedback session can take place on completion of the assessment and on receipt of the report, a follow-up phone call can be made if you have any questions. The report produced details a profile of strengths and weaknesses, with a list of recommendations.
A Little Bit About Me
Stuart Lucas
BA (Hons), MLitt, PGCE (English), PGDip SpLD (Dyslexia), PGC (Autism), Cert HE (Psychology), Cert HE, CCET, CPT3A, AMBDA, Patoss, MDG
I am an experienced independent specialist assessor who offers full diagnostic assessments for dyslexia (SpLD). I carry out assessments for children (age 11y upwards) & young people/ adults (post-16 / within the Scottish education system). I have been offering this service for a number of years. Formally, I was Head of Support for Learning (22 years), a classroom English teacher (5 years), and an Associate Lecturer with the Open University (10 years). As part of the Support team (Secondary), my focus was on assisting pupils with their literacy challenges – though the focus, initially, was on dyslexia and transition from primary to secondary: my role also included assessing pupils for exam arrangements. I am registered with Dyslexia Scotland as a recommended assessor.
